All the good of the year in a jar!

Never did a year come this quickly around, but here we are in 2022 ! And, of course, as every new year comes around, so do new year resolutions. As much as I love them, this year I tried being more gentle with myself by not putting an unnecessary pressure on myself (on the contrary of 2021’s resolutions). In fact, the beginning of 2021 started accordingly to the goals I set myself but, by the end of the year, I was the most unhappy version of myself. Therefore, I thought that for 2022, it would be better to just start slowly and find some (realistic) habits that I could stick to my entire life ! So in this article, I decided to share a fun and simple DIY project to, hopefully, help you stay positive and appreciate the big happenings as well as the small ones !

All you will need is paper, scissors and a jar.

The concept of this habit is very simple, at the end of every week you’ll set a few minutes to write down one good thing that happened on a little piece of paper, that you’ll fold. It could be anything from messaging an old friend, watching a new movie, getting a compliment from a stranger, finishing a book, breathing the fresh air, wearing an outfit you felt comfortable in, spending time with your pet, getting enough sleep…

Then all you need to do is put that folded piece of paper in the jar and on the last day of the year, you can read all of your favorite times and realise what a great year you had !

Now, let’s be real, you’ll probably look through the jar before the end of the year (or maybe that’s just me) and that is okay ! The goal of this habit is just to see the good in the week, sometimes it will come easier to you, and you’ll have no problem looking for that special moment that you enjoyed. Other times, it will be harder to find that good thing, so you’ll have to search for it. Either way, you’ll always be able to write something on that piece of paper.
